TNO’s Target of Opportunity (TOO) Policy
-
Triggering Observations:
A TOO trigger can be initiated at any time, but no more than once per night and for a maximum duration of 1 hour.
-
Coordination with Current Observers:
The TOO observer must contact the current observer to coordinate the observation upon triggering. TAC (proposal@narit.or.th) and Operator (operator@narit.or.th) should always be cc’ed.
-
Assistance from Classical Observers:
If the TOO observation requires the same instrument as the one currently scheduled, the classical observers are expected to assist in obtaining the observation.
-
Authorship in Publications:
Any publications resulting from the TOO observation must include the classical observers as co-authors.
-
Compensation for Lost Time:
Classical observers may request compensation for the lost time from the buffer time or the Director's Discretionary Time (DDT).
