Overview

The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) is pleased to welcome everyone to join the Workshop and Brainstorming in Science Cases toward Star Forming Regions and Evolved Stars with the 40 Thai National Radio Telescope (TNRT). This event will take place from May 29th to May 31st, 2023, at the Novotel Chiangmai Nimman Journeyhub Hotel.

Background and Objective:

According to the white paper entitled "Sciences with Thai National Radio Telescope (Jaroenjittichai et al. 2022)”, a summary of potential key science topics to be achieved with the Thai National Radio Telescope (TNRT) was presented. The commissioning phase began in mid-2022. The key science topics include Pulsars and Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs), Star Forming Regions (SFRs), Galaxy and Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs), Evolved Stars, Radio Emission of Chemically Peculiar (CP) Stars, and Geodesy. These topics cover a wide range of observing frequencies in L/C/X/Ku/K/Q/W-bands (1-115 GHz). In order to align with the operational plan outlined in the white paper, the radio astrophysics research group, specifically the sub-group studying star formation processes, has recognized the need to gather input from researchers at the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) and international experts in the field. Together, they will collaborate to analyze and prepare observation plans that are as comprehensive and scientifically rigorous as possible, including the potential addition of other scientific topics that could be explored further with the TNRT. In addition, some science topics will be used to advertise to many students who will participate in the radio summer school 2023 and this could guideline to them in short-term and long-term projects together with NARIT researchers.
