The 4th Thailand-UK Python+Astronomy Summer School 2022 (ThaiPASS’22)
ThaiPASS is a STEM outreach project on introductory Python with applications to data-driven astronomy.
Project ThaiPASS is a collaboration between 3 UK universities (the University of Warwick. the University of Hull, and the University of Central Lancashire), with the Institute of Fundamental Study (Naresuan University, Thailand) and National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT).
At ThaiPASS, Thai secondary-school students (Mor 4-6) will work with UK professional astronomers with the following goals
- To develop a working competency in Python programming via hands-on activities.
- To study contemporary topics in astronomy via lectures from UK professional astronomers.
- To learn the basics of data handling, and to visualise data by working individually or in pairs.
- To understand the modern interlink between astronomy and data science, and to be motivated to continue learning coding and astronomy beyond the scope and time-scale of the summer school.
In addition, there will also be a teacher-training event with the aim of introducing teachers to the basics of Python for developing teaching materials.
There are no registration fees. Participants are selected from nominations received from schools.
โครงการ ThaiPass เป็นโครงการ STEM เพื่อการเรียนรู้การเขียนโปรแกรม Python เบื้องต้นโดยการเรียนรู้ผ่านข้อมูลการดาราศาสตร์
โครงการ ThaiPass เป็นโครงการความร่วมมือระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัย 3 แห่งในสหราชอาณาจักร (มหาวิทยาลัย Warwick มหาวิทยาลัย Hull และ มหาวิทยาลัย Central Lancashire) มหาวิทยาลัยในประเทศไทย 1 แห่ง ได้แก่ วิทยาลัยเพื่อการค้นคว้าระดับรากฐาน มหาวิทยาลัยนเรศวร และ สถาบันวิจัยดาราศาสตร์แห่งชาติ (องค์การมหาชน)
นักเรียน (และอาจารย์) ในระดับมัธยมปลาย (ม.4 ถึง ม. 6) สามารถสมัครเข้าร่วมโครงการ ThaiPASS’21 ซึ่งนักเรียนจะได้มีโอกาสได้รู้จัก และร่วมงานกับนักวิจัยที่มีความรู้ความเชี่ยวชาญในสหราชอาณาจักร และ ประเทศไทย โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ดังนี้
- พัฒนาทักษะความสามารถในการเขียนโปรแกรมภาษา Python ผ่านกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้หลากหลาย
- ศึกษา เรียนรู้ ความก้าวหน้าทางด้านดาราศาสตร์ยุคปัจจุบันจากผู้เชี่ยวชาณจากสหราชอาณาจักร
- เรียนรู้การจัดการข้อมูล การสร้างภาพถ่าย จากข้อมูลทางดาราศาสตร์ โดยการเรียนรู้รายบุคคล หรือกับคู่เรียน
- สร้างความเชื่อมโยงระหว่างดาราศาสตร์ และวิทยาการข้อมูล เพื่อสร้างแรงจูงใจในการเรียนรู้การเขียนโปรแกรม และดาราศาสตร์หลังจากจบโครงการ
โครงการ ThaiPass ยังมีการอบรมครูในระดับมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลาย เพื่อที่จะนำความรู้ที่ได้ไปพัฒนาสื่อการสอนต่อไป
ThaiPASS’22 เป็นหลักสูตรไม่เสียค่าใช้จ่าย ไม่ต้องเสียค่าลงทะเบียน นักเรียนจะต้องได้รับการเสนอชื่อเข้าการอบรมจากอาจารย์ประจำโรงเรียน
