Arrival Guide

Dear Participant of the WEHS-NARIT cosmology school,

Here, you will find information on which hotel you are staying at, the school's updated program (and if you are giving a talk, when it is scheduled), the computing class prerequisites, arrival information and flight reimbursement.

  • You can find hotel information on the left panel.
  • The schedule is now finalised (see below). Registration will open on Monday, 13 October from 08:00-09:00. You will note that we have a reception on Monday evening and a conference dinner on Wednesday. Information regarding the location of the dinner will be made available during the course of the conference. Wednesday afternoon is free from lectures. During this time, we encourage you to engage in scientific talks about your work with other members of the school in a less formal setting. An excursion will be planned, again with more information during the school.
  • If you're giving a talk and a poster, please check your talk and poster title in the attachment (Hotels-presentations.xlsx, first sheet) and let us know if something looks incorrect. The first talk of each day will be a highlight talk of 10 minutes (in grey in the spreadsheet). The rest of the talks will be flash talks, meaning each presenter will have only 4 minutes to explain the problem they are working on. Giving a short pitch on your work is an important skill, and we encourage you to be as concise as possible.
  • Guide for presentation repository on the left panel.
  • For those of you who present a poster, please bring your poster since we will not be able to print it at the school. We will prepare poster stands with A0 size at the coffee break area.
  • Computing course: Dr. Rainer Weinberger has written a brief document indicating the prerequisites you must have installed on your computer in order to run cosmological simulations. Please find the details in the tab on the left panel. If you have problems installing these or any other issues, please let us know, and if there is demand, we will set up an online help desk in the week prior to the school.
  • For those of you who are arriving before the 12th or staying after the 18th, please be advised that we will not be providing accommodation for you, nor making reservations for you for any days before or after the school.
  • As mentioned in previous emails, for those of you who are having their flights reimbursed, this will take place in the weeks following the school, provided you have attended the full week and against presentation of your boarding passes that match the flight booking you have already sent us. Therefore, please keep your boarding passes. More information will be provided at the school.
  • We remind you that all foreign travellers to Thailand must complete a Thailand Digital Arrival Card. Please ensure that this is done at least 3 days prior to arrival in Thailand. The link to the form is on the left panel.

Welcoming you soon in Chiang Mai,
Your SOC & LOC
