Observing modes (TNT Only)

Since Cycle 3, observations can be carried out in visitor mode from Doi Inthanon, or remotely from Chiang Mai.

In the first case, the observer will work from TNO and is generally accommodated at the Astro Lodge at the Base Camp (Doi Inthanon National Park Headquarters). The arrangements may vary however, and the PI should contact the NARIT TNO Operational Department well in advance of the run.

In the second case, the observer will sit at a workstation at the NARIT Headquarters at the AstroPark located in Don-Kaew sub-district, Mae-Rim, Chiang Mai. Observer(s) can control the instrument(s), download the data, and communicate with the TNO staff via phone or Skype. The telescope shall be controlled and under the responsibility of the TNO staff. At the moment, remote observations have been verified and are offered for MRES, 4K ARC, and ULTRASPEC. If your first observing slot falls on the weekend, it is advisable to arrive at NARIT during the weekday to be issued with a key to the remote control room or make alternative arrangement with the NARIT TNO Operational Department well in advance of the run.
