Application
Application to ThaiPASS is based on a nomination system.
We invite applications from 1 teacher+4 students per school.

1. We will only accept one application per school. Each application must be made by a teacher, who nominates up to 4 students to attend ThaiPASS.

2. Please nominate up to 4 students from your school using the form on the registration page. The organisers aim to achieve a good gender balance, therefore we strongly encourage you to nominate equal numbers of male and female students where possible. We also strongly encourage female teachers to attend the Teachers' Workshop at  ThaiPASS.

3. Please ask each nominated student to write a short essay in English (doc or pdf files, maximum 500 words), explaining why they are interested in attending ThaiPASS. Please upload each essay in the field marked “เอกสารแนบ”.

4. The organisers will use each teacher’s recommendation and the student's essay to score each student using the following criteria. Claims of academic excellence should be substantiated in the essay or teacher's statement.

   • Ability and potential in science

   • Ability and potential in English

   • Interest in astronomy

   • Other relevant skills (e.g. computing experience, awards…)

5. We aim to select around 60 students and 20 teachers to attend ThaiPASS’21. Each year we receive around twice that number of applications.
   It is possible that not all of the nominated students from each school are invited to ThaiPASS.

6. We will provide participants with: 5-night accommodation (shared rooms at Shangri-La Hotel), breakfast, lunches, banquet and excursion day activities.
   Note that participants must arrange their own travel to and from Chiang Mai. Dinners are only provided on the Excursion Day and on the Banquet evening.

7. The nominating teacher is encouraged to attend the Python for Teachers training at ThaiPASS (although this is not compulsory), or they may choose not to attend ThaiPASS at all. We cannot host observers.

8. The deadline for nominations is 19th February 2021, 12noon (Thai time). The outcome will be announced on this website by 1st March 2021.

 

วิธีการสมัครเข้าร่วมโครงการ
การสมัครเข้าร่วมโครงการ ThaiPASS จะใช้วิธีการเสนอชื่อผ่านอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษา โดยกำหนดให้อาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาสามารถเสนอชื่อนักเรียนได้ไม่เกินโรงเรียนล่ะ 4 คน และ อาจารย์ที่เสนอชื่ออีก 1 ท่าน

1. ให้แต่ละโรงเรียนที่มีความประสงค์เข้าร่วมเสนอส่งใบสมัครได้โรงเรียนล่ะ 1 ใบสมัครเท่านั้น โดยอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาเป็นผู้ส่งใบสมัคร เสนอรายชื่อนักเรียน 4 คนที่มีความประสงค์จะเข้าร่วมโครงการ ThaiPASS

2. กรุณาเสนอรายชื่อนักเรียนที่จะเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมไม่เกิน 4 คนต่อโรงเรียนที่ท่านสังกัดอยู่โดยใช้แบบฟอร์มบนหน้า Registration. ทางทีมงานจะพยายามจัดสรรจำนวนเพศของนักเรียนที่เข้าร่วมโครงการให้เท่ากัน ดังนั้นทางทีมงานแนะนำให้อาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาเสนอชื่อนักเรียนชาย และนักเรียนหญิงอย่างละ 2 คนในกรณีที่เป็นไปได้

3. ให้นักเรียนของท่านเขียนบทความเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ (ในรูปแบบ doc หรือ pdf ไม่เกิน 500 คำ) อธิบายเหตุผลว่าทำไมจึงอยากเข้าร่วมโครงการ ThaiPASS  โดยอัพโหลดผ่านช่องทาง "เอกสารแนบ (student's essay in English)".

4. เงื่อนไขในการพิจารณาผู้สมัครเข้าร่วมโครงการจะเป็นเกณฑ์คะแนนจากบทความที่นักเรียนส่งมา และเหตุผลในการเสนอชื่อจากอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษา ดังนี้

   • ความสามารถและศักยภาพทางด้านวิทยาศาสตร์

   • ทักษะการสื่อสารด้านภาษาอังกฤษ

   • ความสนใจทางด้านดาราศาสตร์

   • ทักษะอื่น ๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้อง (เช่น ประสบการณ์ในการเขียนโปรแกรม รางวัลทางวิชาการ เป็นต้น) 

5. ทางทีมงานจะคัดเลือกนักเรียนเข้าร่วมโครงการ ThaiPASS’21 จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 60 คน และอาจารย์ 20 คน ในแต่ล่ะปีเราได้นักเรียน และอาจาย์ที่สมัครเข้าร่วมโครงการประมาณสองเท่าของจำนวนที่เปิดรับ ดังนั้นจึงมีความเป็นไปได้ที่นักเรียนที่ส่งใบสมัครจะไม่ได้รับการคัดเลือกเข้าร่วมโครงการ

6. นักเรียน และอาจารย์ที่ได้รับการคัดเลือกจะได้ที่พักเป็นเวลาทั้งสิ้น 5 คืน (นอนร่วมกัน ณ โรงแรม Shangri-La) รวมอาหารเช้า อาหารกลางวัน และอาหารว่างเช้า/บ่าย งานเลี้ยง และค่าทัศนศึกษา ทั้งนี้นักเรียนและอาจารย์จะต้องรับผิดชอบค่าอาหารเย็นในบางมื้อ และต้องรับผิดชอบค่าใช้จ่ายในการเดินทางมาร่วมงานด้วยตนเอง อาหารเย็นมีให้เฉพาะวันที่ไปทัศนศึกษา และงานเลี้ยงเท่านั้น

7. อาจารย์ที่เสนอชื่อนักเรียนเข้าร่วมโครงการสามารถขอเข้าร่วมโครงการโปรแกรม Python สำหรับครู ได้ หรือเลือกที่จะไม่เข้าร่วมโครงการ ThaiPASS พร้อมกับเด็กก็ได้ ทั้งนี้ทางผู้จัดงานไม่อนุญาตให้มีครูสังเกตการณ์เข้าร่วมโครงการ

8. กำหนดการเสนอชื่อนักเรียนเข้าร่วมโครงการภายในวันที่ 19 กุมภาพันธ์ พ.ศ. 2564 และ จะประกาศรายชื่อผู้เข้าร่วมโครงการภายในวันที่ 1 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2564 ที่หน้าเวบไซต์
